End-User License Agreement

By installing or using AlphaDictate you agree to these terms.

1. License

With an active subscription or a lifetime license, Odyssean LLC grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use AlphaDictate for personal or internal business use on up to 3 computers you use yourself, identified by your license key. The software is licensed, not sold.

2. Trial

Before buying, you may use the app free for 60 minutes of transcription. The trial is full-featured and requires no AlphaDictate account or license check. Internet access is still used to download speech models and, for direct installations, check for and download app updates.

3. Subscription, lifetime license, renewal, cancellation

The subscription renews monthly or annually, depending on the plan chosen at checkout, until cancelled. Cancel any time via the billing portal linked in your purchase email; the license keeps working until the end of the period already paid for. If a renewal payment fails and is not resolved, the license stops validating after a grace period.

A lifetime license is a one-time purchase. It does not renew or expire, and it includes the updates and new models we publish for AlphaDictate for Windows. The app still checks the license online about every two weeks. If we ever stop operating the license service, we will first publish an update that lets existing lifetime licenses keep working without it.

4. Refunds

If AlphaDictate isn't working out within the first 14 days after purchase, email hello@alphadictate.com for a full refund, no questions asked. A refunded purchase ends its license.

5. What you may not do

• Share, publish, resell, or sublicense your license key, or use one key across more people than yourself.
• Redistribute, rent, or provide the software as a service to third parties.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the software or its licensing mechanism, except where law expressly permits.

6. Updates and third-party components

Updates are delivered automatically while your subscription is active, and for as long as we publish updates if you hold a lifetime license. The software includes open-source components, including OpenAI's Whisper models (MIT License) and whisper.cpp (MIT License), whose license texts accompany the installed application.

7. Accuracy disclaimer

Speech recognition makes mistakes. Transcripts may contain errors, and you are responsible for reviewing them before relying on them. AlphaDictate is not designed for use where transcription errors could cause harm (for example medical, legal, or emergency use).

8. Warranty and liability

The software is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. Odyssean LLC's total liability under this agreement is limited to the amount you paid for the software in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Termination

This agreement ends if you materially breach it or when your subscription lapses (a lifetime license does not lapse); sections 5–10 survive. Upon termination you must stop using the software. Your local data (history, settings) remains yours and on your machine.

10. General

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, and disputes belong to the state or federal courts located in Washington. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stands. This is the entire agreement about the software and supersedes prior discussions. Changes to these terms will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
